Thursday Thoughts 8.16.12

August2012ThursdayThoughts[1] I bought some new shades for $5 today. They are so awesome that I actually walked through my office building without taking them off. Yes. I was that girl. No shame, my friends, no shame.Spot me shades [2]I generally run on the treadmill at the gym that’s like 50 feet from my office, but it was closed yesterday and will be through the weekend for some shiz they call “Staff Maintenance”. I mean, dudes, can’t you maintain while I get my boob sweat on? Seriously, I won’t be a bother. I mean, just ignore the huffing & puffing and the possible fountain works and we should be good, right?
Anyway, it’s closed so I’ve been attempting to do my workouts at home on the craptastic treadmill my husband came across last year. I’m pretty sure it’s completely off in pace and distance, but eh, something’s better than nothing. I’m also convinced it’s shorter than the ones at the gym as I’ve almost fallen off the back of it at least a dozen times in the past 3 runs I’ve done on it.
[3] The bestie, Emilie, is now 36 weeks pregnant and officially over it. Here’s a few snippets from our AIM conversation earlier that made me laugh.
Tamara: Other than those things, what else do you lack?
Emilie: A baby.
Tamara: Good point.
Emilie: …every time I move my stomach these pains make me want to punch puppies.
Tamara: I am currently writing my Thursday Thoughts post. I’m pretty sure you’re going to be in it.
Emilie: Sawheet. I’m totally going to be famous now. And if your blogs are ever turned into a movie
[totally think they should BTW] I will be the perfect Emilie.
[4] This time next week I will officially be 27 years old. I think this is the first year that someone had to remind me my birthday was coming up [Thanks Emilie!] No big plans as of now, other than maybe forcing the husband to take me out to eat so I can wear these shoes I bought months ago with the justification that since they’re leopard they will make me run faster. [Don’t judge me. My brain is not logical when it comes to shoes. And especially when it comes to shoes on sale.]photo (2)Photo courtesy of Emilie from a few weeks ago when we were looking for an outfit and had to share the gloriousness of the shoes with her sister. Yeah, it’s not the best and my toes are hot mess…but you can’t deny the cuteness of these 5 inch wedges. [Also, the higher the heel the smaller my foot looks – SCORE!]
[5] I am currently drinking a baby soda. A BABY SODA. I am really considering making a baby coozie to go with it. Because who wouldn’t buy that? You know you want one now. Don’t deny it. 20120816160558 Happy Thursday friends! Link up with Sar at [life of love] if you haven’t already!

Thursday Thoughts 8.2.12

[1] I feel like I've been talking about running a lot lately. I promise this won't turn into a play-by-play [I mean, I'll still definitely talk about how pregnancy panties are vicious creatures and how my kid poops on the floor] But you know how it is when you get excited about something, you just feel like sharing. And since not many of my friends [er, pretty much none] have decided to jump on the running train with me - you guys get the brunt of it.

[2] I have a date tonight. And no, it's not with my husband. [I'm quite the whore if you didn't know]
Getting our drunken muddiness on at Mud Nats 2011.

Just kidding - it's with the bestie, Emilie! She's been working so much lately and been all 'Hey, look at me I'm pregnant' we really haven't had one. I'm way pumped about it. Even though I've had all day to figure out something to eat that's relatively healthy and have exactly zero ideas.

[3]A few years ago I did Weight Watchers and lost nearly 30 lbs. If anyone talks about weight loss, it's the first program I recommend. So, I finally listened to my own recommendations and I joined again at the beginning of this week. While I am working on my fitness and know I have improved, the fact is I'm still technically overweight. I figure the less I weigh, the less I have to lug across a finish line, right? I feel really good about it at this point - day 4 - and hopefully will be brave enough to share my weight loss journey with you. I know how many mothers, adults, friends, family, everyone struggles with their own self-image - if my insight and my ridiculosity can make it a little easier for them - I'm in.

[4] Hi, drivers. I just need a second of your time. Can you please be aware of your surroundings? Put the phone down - nothing is that important while you're driving that you have to text. If it is - your ass better be dialing someone.
And please, please be aware of construction workers who are on the road - they don't have a one ton vehicle protecting them if someone hits them because they're not paying attention. All they have is a family at home that is counting on them to make it home. Slow down. Be cautious. Give them as much room as you'd like to be given on a road where people are passing you going 70 mph. Wherever you're going can't be as important as another humans life.It.just.can't.

Ready to hit the weekend! Are you?

Thursday Thoughts 7.19.12

[1] Guess what I am? You'll never guess.
...
I am a Victoria's Secret Model. No, you did not read that wrong. I am.
Well, I mean, kind of in a sort of round about way.
Yes, I did take a picture in the locker room after my work out today.
We have the same pants. That's right, Ol' Vicky and me got very much acquainted these past few weeks as the Semi-Annual Sale was going on and they kept sending me coupons and I couldn't not use them because it's like wasting money, right? So, I went out on a limb and bought cobalt blue pants. [Among, plennnttty of other things, trust me.]
I was really nervous about them, because well, they are blue. And not in the denim way. [I'm a blue jeans/t-shirt girl all the way.]I think I may try a yellow shirt next time for some colorblocking...we shall see.
I love clothes. I love shoes. I'm just not very brave in my wardrobe choices when I'm out in public. I buy a lot, but it mostly sits in my closet until I can play it safe somehow. But the more I lose and the more I work out the less I seem to worry what other people may [or may not] think of the clothes I am wearing. Which is great for my self-esteem, not so great for the wallet.

[2] I have a local 5k this Saturday morning. I keep going back and forth between the "DUDES, I'm gonna PR [personal record] the shit out of this!" and the "What if my chub rub attacks my thighs, I forget my deodorant and crap my pants instead!" emotions. It's getting really annoying.

[3] I haven't talked much about my Insanity adventures lately because after month 1 I stopped so I could prepare for this 5k. Running & doing Insanity at the same time was just not working for me, so I gave up one. But next week I go back on the Insanity train for my last month and then I start working on my first half-marathon training plan. Suggestions & help are welcome!
Seriously.
Help me.

[4] I don't know if you use or have Twitter. But if you don't, you should. [I'm @Tamara0827 ]I used to be a hardcore - this is some stupid ass shiz, who wants to read that crap - but, I definitely prefer it over FacePoop. And lately, I have been absolutely loving all the random, fun tweet conversations I've been having. Life's motto should totally be - If you can't say it under 140 characters, you shouldn't say it at all.

Thursday Thoughts 6.28.12

link up with Sar at [life of love]

{1} I'm training and running for a half-marathon in January. Please read this post and help me raise money for The Epilepsy Foundation. It's a great cause and I'm willing to do stupid stuff for money. If you have idears send them my way.

{2}I posted this photo yesterday to twitter/facebook that we've named the cat we found last week, Catface.
Seems appropriate right? I mean, it is a cat. It has a face. Catface. [Genius, aren't we?] But the name has been changed, courtesy of our daughter. You see the cat is a male. A male that is not neutered. Which means his uhhh, balls, are on display for the world to see if he raises his tail. And once Lillie caught sight of them, well, she called it like she saw it - Bubbles. Yep. Name changed instantly. Once we finished laughing of course. So, Catface is out. Bubbles is in. Welcome to your new home!

{3}Someone asked me if I'd lost like 25 lbs. Uh, no, but hot damn did it make me feel good. I'm nearly done with my first month of Insanity [I've cut back some since I've started running again] and expect sometime next week an update.

{4}Because I would not be a real woman if I didn't mention this at some point in my life.
Magic Mike. Magic Mike. Magic Mike.
{5}Dudes, someone just donated - seriously, I just got an email, like right now - $50! WHAT?! People are amazing. Simply, freaking amazing. I was [am] nervous about asking for money, that's just not the type of person I am, but I am so much more excited to be helping out with such a great cause!
Get out there and do something amazing, my friends!

Thursday Thoughts 5.31.12

link up with Sar at [life of love]
{1} This crazy, fun weather Texas is having is wrecking havoc on my weirdly natural wavy hair. Which I'm still getting used too. I got it cut/highlighted last Saturday by a wonderful stylist {and person!} Johanna.

If you're in the Waco/Central Texas area and are looking for a new 'do. Let me know, I'll hook you up with her info. Also, she's gorgeous - and you know good and well you judge your hair stylist by how well they look! I know I do. {Don't judge me.}
{2}The husband went camping/hung out on the lake with a good buddy who only manages to come back home a few days every few months {due to his job} last night. Whenever he's not home, I have a hard time falling asleep but when I finally do go to sleep - sweet baby Jesus I love not sharing a bed. IT.IS.MAGICAL.

{3}I'm still doing my Insanity workouts. They're still the debil. And I'm being slowly converted over to the dark-side of actually enjoying working out as I've officially lost 7 inches now. I am *planning* on sharing more about my weight loss/getting healthy journey soon.  The thought of posting my actual weight is terrifying, but well, I'll get more into my feelings in a later post.
Which also may or may not involve a video of me huffing/puffing through Insanity. But, after mentioning it to Abbey over at Finding My Forever {great blog, my friends, check it out!}in a really great email exchange the other day about how no one can be cute doing these  moves, I think it's time I prove that theory right. Seriously, people, I look like a whale who stubbed his fin on a coral reef while chasing down a school of fish. Not pretty. Not pretty, at all. I also had a lot of questions about the program from my Buttoned, Bitches post - so hopefully, I'll have something together next week.

{4}I have started to not put up my clean laundry. Which for me means it is time to clear out space in my closet/dressers because I hate having to squish down with all of my weight to fit in just.one.more.tank.top. So, Lillie and I for the past two days have been going through my clothes. I'd say she has been helpful, but well, she's 18 months. And her definition of help is not the same as mine.
stealing clothes from one of the many piles to 'try' on.
But even though I just did this a few months ago, I managed to be more realistic and get 3 bags to the Goodwill this afternoon. And I also found out that I have two more pair of pre-Lillie jeans I can add to my wardrobe. Ain't nothing like shopping for free, am I right folks?

Here's to another day down to Friday!

Thursday Thoughts 5.24.12

link up with Sar at [life of love]
{1} You know you have an amazing boss when she recommends you take off an extra day to make a 3 day weekend into a 4 day one. And you know, she's even more amazing when you think "But, no, then you'd have to do twice the work and I don't want to do that to you!" I complain sometimes, but I really am so grateful to be in the position I am.

{2}Please send prayers out to a local family whose father was fatally shot last night. I'm lucky enough to have known him for a small amount of time in the grand scheme of things. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.

{3} I missed my workout yesterday evening because I've been doing the old-man shuffle for the past couple of days after working out with Moj on Monday. So after a couple of iced calves and way too many tacos yesterday, I'm ready to get back on the Insanity train. {I may post before and after pictures, but uh, I don't know if I'm there mentally yet.}

{4}I'm also thinking of doing a 10k at the end of June in Harker Heights, anyone know anything about it? I can't find a lot of information except day and time. It's called Race to Read.

{5} Are you ready for the weekend? I know I am! No serious plans but am so glad we don't have any. Well, I take that back. I don't have plans. My husband and his husband {best bud, Justin} will be fishing Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday as he made sure to inform me of last night at least 4 times. Sigh.

Thank goodness it's almost Friday, friends!

Thursday Thoughts 5.3.12

link up with Sar at [life of love]

{1}I actually woke up this morning and tried to convince myself it was Friday because I am so excited for this weekend! Between the redneck-themed birthday party we are attending {seriously, there's going to be a 30 foot inflatable water slide, cotton candy machine, & dunk tank} and taking advantage of our new boat. It's going to be one heck of a fun-in-the-sun kinda time.
Yes, yes it does, say Aquaholic on it.
{and you thought I was playing with you about being a redneck. ;) }

{2} Hi students. I promise you as recent graduate I completely understand the pressure you are going through. But calling me 3 times in the past hour asking for an update on a problem that I have no control over - will not get the situation resolved any faster. Slow your roll, dudes, slow your mother-beeping-roll. I gots yo back, just gimme a chance, dawg.

{3} I cried like a baby Tuesday morning. Why? Because after a very long journey, our best friends, Emilie & Justin, found out they are having a boy! And just as friend {and aunt dammit!}if I was that excited {especially considering I kind of don't like kids} I just know he's going to uh-mah-zing and I can't wait to snuggle on him. And force him to marry Lillie...what? Don't judge me.
{4} Emilie stashed away picture of Lillie from a year ago and surprised me with it in my email this morning. I always am excited to go love on my Lilz after work but that photo just made me that much more pumped to go spend some girl time with my fav. Thanks Em, you've sparked that damn Fever again.

Thursday Thoughts 4.26.12

My first link up with Sar over at [life of love].

{1) The Lillie-kins has been out of sorts lately. She's been running a low temp fever and not being the smiley, adorable kid everyone has grown to love. She has never just fell asleep on me. Even as an infant, she never wanted to be rocked {by her grandparents, sure, but not good ol' mom - ugh!} but last night she fell asleep on my chest for about 20 minutes so I know she felt bad. Please send good thoughts our way that it's only a 24 hour bug and not an ear infection.

{2} Speaking of babies, I went to a baby shower for a co-worker today and it hit me again. The Fever. When did boy things get so adorable? Seriously, not okay Fever. Not.Okay.

{3} Have you people heard about this new phase where kids are drinking hand sanitizer to get their drank on? And then, I had more than a few people remind me that people {girls and guys}are inserting tampons soaked in vodka for the same effect? Seriously, this is why people think kids are nothing but a bunch of hooligans. Stop making me feel old by calling you hooligans.

{4}. I'm super pumped about this Saturday. Why? Because I'm running a 100 yard dash in 5 inch heels! Sounds crazy, right? But it's not, because it's for breast cancer. For some reason, although I've not personally been affected by breast cancer, I always feel really strongly about this cause. So as major shoe whore, I felt it was my responsibility to make this happen.
It's in Waco, Texas at 10am. You don't have to run it. I'm actually puhh-retty sure I'm going to push the kiddo in her stroller for it. But if you want to just come and cheer people on, that's more than encouraged too! I'd love to see you guys!
For more information, here's their facebook page and their website. Or email me at Tamara0827{at}gmail{dot}com, and I'll find out for you. You can register prior to the race at the event, it's not too late I promise. And if you come, you'll get to see my bitching shoes before I post them for everyone else to see {trust me, they are totally worth it!}

{5} And here's hoping that the turkey meatloaf recipe I received from my friend/personal trainer-who-makes-me-see-baby-Jesus every Wednesday goes well tonight. I'm not planning on telling the husband, I'm going to see if he notices the difference. Muwahahaha.

Hope everyone's Thursday is going spectacular. Only one more day to get through for the weekend! You can do it!
