Grocery Sack Boots

I am wearing my new boots today. You know, the ones that I justified a million ways to offset the cost? I’ve actually had them for a while, I’ve just been to scared to wear them. One – because this is not something in my normal jeans & t-shirt closet and Two – it just doesn’t feel right since these are fall boots & I live in Texas. You know, where we have two seasons – hot & hotter. It felt like a perfect opportunity today thought this cool front that’s blown through. And when I say cool front, I mean it’s slowly been dipping into the 70s.

I’m pretty sure I saw a girl with a parka on earlier.
Yeah, us Texans are wimps when it comes to the cold.

But, I adore them. And while I’m not exactly digging my outfit today [I really suck at being fashionable], I am happy with all the compliments I’ve received. Just another reason to justify my rightness in spending entirely too much money on a pair of boots. Can’t be mad at that.

20120914081635Now that I’m looking at this picture, they kind of look like rain boots. I assure you they are not.
I am 5’10 so these boots are tall to be right up to my knee. In fact, in some of the reviews online shorter people said they didn’t like how they went over their knees.

Sucks to be you, shorty. [Please ignore this comment if you are one of my many short friends, as I mean this with much love and compassion and jealousy because finding appropriate length jeans is not a problem for you.]

The only issue – they are a bitch to get on. Why? Because they have no zippers, no real stretch [that should come in time, they are leather] – they’re just slip-on boots.  The first time I attempted to put them on, I am not exaggerating when I say it took me 10 minutes of hard-core sweating, yanking, cursing & pulling. But like most shoes – totes worth it.

Lucky for me, I have an amazing work friend who after listening to me complain about the awesomeness of the new boots being compromised by the level of intensity it took to actually wear them – gave me a great idea.

Put your foot in a plastic bag and your foot will slide right in – no hassle at all. And once your foot is in, just pull the bag and it will tear away.

Genius, right?

Except it’s not. Because the fact is boots that come up to your knees when you’re 5’10 are much longer than the edges of a common grocery sack.

And what does that mean?

It means in addition to my amazingly awesome boots I am also wearing two Wal-Mart sacks inside my boots today.

I am that girl.

And I ain’t gots no shame.

Have you ever done anything for the sake of fashion that may or may not have been a little questionable?

BAHAHAHA do you crinkle when you walk? ;)

And me and my 5'0 self will not take offense at your comment against shorties. Those boots would probably be up to my hips lol

That is too funny! I use to wear bags in my snow boots as a kid to keep my feet dry!
