5 Fun Facts About Me

RandomThursday

I haven’t linked up for Random Thursday in a while, so I thought, “Why Not?!” and here I am. Today’s prompt (if you didn’t read the title) is 5 Fun Facts about Me. I don’t know if they’re fun, but they are facts. So, half-win at the very least – not bad, right?

1. On occasion, I have been known to do community theatre. I love it but haven’t been able to (or willing too) give up my time for rehearsals. Now that the kid is a little older, I can feel the acting bug creeping back up in me.

2. To save some money when decorating Lillie’s room, Alfred & I just went through some old furniture we had and painted it. Like new, baby or like new baby. Because she was a new ba…oh, never mind. Picture 408

3. In case you’ve ever doubted my redneck status – I’ve actually been to a Corn Festival. Yeah, a Corn Festival. Just let that sink in.

Well, only after I went home crying because when I walked into class everyone started laughing at my new do that I was so proud of (my mom had a perm, so I thought I was so adult with it.) Seriously though, they had to call my mom to come pick me up because I refused to go inside.

Don’t forgot for those of you who are participating in the #JellyoftheJams CD swap to come back here tomorrow to link-up all your great songs you’ve received! If you haven’t gotten your CD yet from your partner, no worries, the link will stay open so you can link up at your convenience!

Random Thursday: Holy Grail Cosmetics

I’m joining Em, Lin, & Meaghan for Random Thursday and this weeks subject is -

I decided to throw down vlog style thinking I’d be able to do it in 5 minutes or less, but uh, that does not happen. I don’t know why I think I can talk in a short amount of time, but it’s nearly impossible.

Also, I show you my awesome make-up bag and promised you a link if you’re interested. I am not a ‘purse’ girl, but I love their products and they’re kind of converting me. I no longer put a wallet in my back pocket like a 12 year old boy.

Yeah, that’s how good they are. So check it out. www.gigihill.com/emilietobias

For those who can’t really watch or don’t really want to (shame on you). I only have one serious holy grail item and that is L'Oreal Double Extend mascara. It makes my eyelashes large and in charge. Over the years I’ve mascara-whored myself out by trying new things but this is the one I always go back too. Even if it did make me flip out thinking that I was losing my eyelashes the first time I wore it. (see video below)

I also talk about Sorme Eyebrow kit, which I think is a good investment if eyebrows are a thing you do. I never did anything with my brows up until this last year and I love how it makes my face look now.

Also, I just want to say thank you to my ‘online’ friends who texted/called/tweeted me concerning the explosion in West, Texas that happened last night. Your thoughtfulness and love is amazing. I live south of the area and was not affected, but plenty of our friends & their family have been – so please just keep our community in your prayers & thoughts.

Random Thursday: Hidden Talents

I feel like I need to apologize for a few things before you watch the video below.

1. The lighting is pretty shitty. I did what I could (9pm at night) with what I had (bathroom lighting).

2. I used my phone by holding it in front of my face. It gets kind of shaky. Please don’t throw up.

3. The very beginning is really quiet/muffled, I think it’s because I had my fingers over the microphone when I was talking. But the only thing you really miss is me introducing myself (Hi. I’m Tamara. I have a blog. Yay!) and that I’m linking up with Em, Lin & Meg for Random Thursday.

So, yeah, sorry about all that.

But at least you can lose 3 minutes of your life listening to me talk (since my “hidden talent” only takes about 10 seconds). How can that be bad, right?

And, I didn’t get Lillie in on it like I suggested at the end of the video. I was too busy feeling fancy this morning because we had to dress up for work (usually I’m in jeans and shirt). After eating really well these past couple of weeks, I can tell a difference in how this dress fits me from this time last year. I ain’t mad at it, but after taking about 30 pictures in my horrible bathroom, with sheisty ass lighting and a toddler running amuck I’ve realized I will never, not ever, be a fashion blogger.

Ain’t nobody got time fo’ dat.IMG_0932

Embarrassing Celebrity Crushes

Linking up with Em, Lin & Meg for this Thursday’s round of randomness.

1. Charlie Day [Lin and I are in total agreement on this hairy elf of a man] I first laid eyes on this man when watching It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He’s kind of gross, and weird, and awkward in the show but something just came through to me. I can’t resist him. You may also recognize him from Horrible Bosses.

2. Robert Downey Jr. I remember seeing him on Ally McBeal [Dancing baby, anyone?] and thinking “Wow, that’s a damn good looking man” and then being quickly grossed out about it since I was only like 16 at the time. But now that I’ve been legal for the past 10 years, it’s totally cool, right? He also pretty much sealed the deal for me the day I watched him in Iron Man too.

3. Matthew Lewis aka Neville Longbottom. I do not deny I have a geek streak in me, and I will never turn over my Harry Potter series despite numerous attempts by my husband in an attempt to clean out my bookcase. I mean, he went from this -

to this -

Yeah. That’s right ladies. And he’s got the wand to prove it.

4. Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He’s probably really not all that embarrassing right now. But at one point, yes, yes he was. Who remembers 3rd Rock from the Sun?

He is just really an incredible actor and if I see he’s in a movie, odds are it’s going in my pants dvd player.

Do you have any embarrassing celebrity crushes?

Random Thursday: What’s in my purse?

RandomThursday

I decided to be ballsy this week with the Random Thursday topic and actually put myself on video. [Meg did too!]

A vlog, if you will [or a vlüg – you’ll understand if you watch]

I had originally planned on having my hair & makeup suitable for public consumption but then I thought better of it. I mean, who wants to see another pretty girl in front of the camera when you can see a very average girl instead?

Totally better, right? right?!

Anywho, I’m pretty wordy & have a huge-ass purse, so watch at your own risk.

Oh, and sound off and let me know if you like the vlüg style and I may attempt at making it a regular thing!

Random Thursday: Music I Never Get Tired Of…

I have a whole slew of posts coming y’alls way but I could not pass up this Random Thursday topic.thursdaybutton1 I am a music whore. And it’s not that I like what people may call ‘good’ music, I like all genres but I think the 90s alternative circuit is what holds a special, dear place in my heart. That’s when I grew up, that’s when every emotion I was feeling was sung about at the exact moment I was feeling it. It was dramatic, it was first dances, it was tears & laughter -  it was life. These are all songs that I will stop what I’m doing to either jam like a clam or  reminisce within my own head (which generally leads to dancing. I have a problem.)

Everclear.
They were one of the first CDs I bought and I just kind of love them.  Always have.

Foo Fighters.
I remember seeing this video on MTV (remember when they played music videos and not reality tv!?) and just being like they.are.awesome. Hooked.

No Doubt.
Seriously. Put this on and I will rockstar this shout of it. And what girl didn't want to be Gwen Stefani in the 90s? Seriously. Total girl crush.

Aerosmith
I used to not like Aerosmith. I know. I know. There must have been something wrong with me but to be fair, I was only like 7 and my mom played his cassette tape over and over and over again and all I wanted to do was listen to Reba. But as I grew up and had a little more control over the radio things changed. And I'm so glad.

Hope you all enjoyed this little throwback!

Random Thursday 12.6.12

thursdaybutton1 Linking up with Em, Lin & Sarah to talk about …

RT21.1

  1. French Fries & a Milkshake. Preferably a chocolate one. When I lived in Kansas, our home was like 100 feet away from an A&W [we actually would sneak & cut through our neighbors yard, haha!] We don’t have these fantastic fast food restaurants in Texas [sigh] but they had the best fries. Maybe I’m disillusioned seeing as I was only like 12 at the time, but seriously amazeballs. I used to pilfer through the couch cushions & random change left on the washing machine to make sure I had enough money to go for a visit. And like any big sister would do, I did not tell my younger siblings where I was going for fear I would be forced to share.
  2. Peanut Butter Sandwich & Nacho Cheese Doritos. During the second trimester of my pregnancy I’m pretty sure this is what I ate for dinner nearly every evening. Chunky peanut butter, whole wheat bread & Nacho Cheese Doritos. It was miraculous. I’ve cut back on the amount, but this is still a staple in my lunch time diet. Which probably explains why I still weigh the same as I did 6 months ago despite countless miles I’ve put in. Sigh.
  3. Mild Cheddar Cheese & Dr.Pepper. I don’t know what it is about cutting off a hunk of cheese and chasing it down with a cold-ass Dr Pepper, but it’s totally amazing. I don’t do this often because I will seriously eat an entire brick of cheese once I get started. And then I’ll be not shitting bricks for weeks. No bueno.

What are your weird food habits?

Random Thursday: 5 Things I Use Everyday

thursdaybutton1

This week’s link up with Em, Lin & Sarah is brought to you by the color blue. No, I’m just kidding. It’s just brought to you by me & my laziness that prevents me from thinking of my own blog topic. These girls are godsends.

5ThingIuseEverday

  1. Mascara. I am a self-proclaimed junkie. Chances are I have 3 tubes on me at any given moment. I just like the stuff. I’ve tried CoverGirl, Mary Kay, Revlon, Avon…you name it, it’s probably been on my lashes. But I always go back to one – L'Oreal Double Extend. It has a primer and then the actual mascara and it seriously buffs up my puny lashes like no other.loreal_double_extendWarning: The first time you take a shower with this on and rub your eyes – do not be alarmed. It will come off in clumps that looks like you’ve just ripped your eyelashes out. They did not rip out. So do not scream, have a panic attack and begin to cry. Not that anyone would react that way. I mean, haha, who would, hahaha, act like that? Hahahhuhhhh….I’m a loser.
  2. iPod/iTunes. I love me some music. I always have it on while I’m at work and I have it so other people on the network can listen [Right, Sar?]. And when I’m not a work, I’m at home, jamming to some tunes with my kid. itunes
  3. Washing Machine. I feel like we have a ridiculously high amount of laundry for 3 people. It is never ending. Seriously, it’s like if clothes touch water they just multiply automatically. Our laundry room is like those gawdamn gremlins. Every.fucking.where.
  4. My cell phone. It’s my portal into the internetz when I’m not at work since we don’t have a computer at home. It also helps me keep tabs on my husband when he’s wandered down the street to Justin’s house.
  5. Shoes. Now, don’t get me wrong. I love being barefoot just as much as the next person, but I have a nice collection of shoes that I try to enjoy as much as I can. Lately, most of my time has been spent in my Mizuno’s. But they’re comfy & shiny & I ain’t complaining.Mizuno Men's

Random Thursday: All Things Halloween

thursdaybutton1Doing a new link-up this week with Em, Lin & Sarah. Basically, they give you a topic and you write. Easy motherbeeping peasy. Also, it helps me look more consistent as a blogger since sometimes I’m up the creek without a paddle when it comes to ideas. God bless the blogosphere & link-ups.  And yes, I know it says Random Thursday and here it is Friday…but I do love a good procrastination. [Fun fact: As a teenager I thought procrastination meant masturbation – talk about awk.ward.]RT15 So, as you can guess this one is about Halloween. Which is my favorite holiday. I know a lot of people say Christmas [presents!], or birthdays [presents & cake!], or Easter [God Loves Me!] but I like to go with…candy. I mean, how can you go wrong with candy? It’s delicious. Freaking delicious.

But more than candy, I think I love the idea of dressing up. Maybe it’s because growing up I loved me some theatre, or maybe it’s because sometimes my childhood was pretty shitty [moving a lot, alcoholism, blah blah shit shit], or maybe it’s just because I’m fucking awesome. So, when Lillie was set to be born in November I pleaded and prayed that she’d pop out two weeks early on Halloween. No such luck. But we did celebrate her first Halloween in style.

The Flinstones picnik Flintstone style, that is. And yes, those are all totally hand-made costumes [I may love Halloween, but I do not love spending way too much money on something worn once]

And for her 2nd Halloween, she has thrown on a cape and set out to fight evil in the world. Mama’s so proud.DSC02041 Wonder Lillie totally rocked the heck out of Family Treat Night [the girls’ dorms on campus dress up & pass out candy to faculty/staff’s children. South Russell you did a great job!]

And a few years ago, I wanted to go to a Halloween party so badly that I said, “Fuck it. I’m throwing my own.” And it was awesome. I mean, only a handful of us showed up but trust me, bigger isn’t always better. We threw down.

1-My Pictures3 1-My Pictures2I know,  I know. You are jealous. And it’s okay to feel that way. It is.

So, yeah, favorite holiday for really no other reason than candy & I have a legit reason to get dressed up. But there’s no shame in that.

What are your Halloween plans this year?

We may hit up a haunted house sometime this weekend, but that’s probably the extent of it for us since Lilz has already been trick-or-treating. Oh, and we’ll do pumpkins sometime this weekend because that is a must.
